Masked World: Classic
The Masked Worlds are diptych paintings. “Masked World: Modern” features masks found throughout different anime, and “Masked World: Classic” portrays masks found in traditional Japanese folklore. Both paintings are two sides of the same coin: they are both conglomerates of Japanese storytelling separated by centuries of time. The traditional masks were donned by actors to portray popular fictional Japanese monsters, spirits, and demons; many of which are the basis behind the familiar designs we see in anime today.
